General Directorate for health prevention

The General Directorate for health prevention (Italian acronym: Dgps) belongs to the prevention and communication Department of the Ministry of Health and deals with the following issues:

• health of mothers, babies, during the development age and of the elderly
• infectious and diffusive diseases
• pollution, dangerous substances and radiations
• health at home and in the workplace
• drug addiction
• mental health, civil invalidity, disability
• safeguarding the health-hygiene characteristics of water
• blood and blood products, organ transplant
• bio-technologies
• health of immigrants, stateless individuals, political refugees, foreigners
• bio-terrorism.
