Also the promotion of continuing education and training, related to implementation of yearly programmes for national and regional staff, is part of the institutional tasks of the CCM. In order to achieve its own training objectives, the CCM can establish agreements with various national institutions, military health services, hospitals, Regions and/or other assistance and research organizations, both public and private.
The interest in training originates from the awareness of the fact that the only guarantee for an effective and efficient management of public health services is related to the upkeep of high competence, professionalism and flexibility standards, which are needed to achieve a sound success in health management. Therefore, the CCM considered the activation of specific external training activities, related to health objectives of the national health prevention Plan, as a priority.
The training general objectives aim at the performance improvement of national health services staff, through the acquisition of new competences and further development of existing ones. The training offer is delivered in different modalities, according to different targets and specific objectives. In particular, there are face-to-face courses followed by practice periods as well as individual courses and specialization courses with 15 to 24 months duration. In alternative, top down, train-to-trainers courses are provided: 1st level trainees are trained by expert trainers. After the completion of such training (residential modules, distance training modules and practice), the concerned trainees are eventually appointed as trainers for the eventual delivery of following steps of the didactical activities.
The training broad objectives are as follows:
- to transfer knowledge and specific competencies to the largest possible number of operators of the public health sector, for the promotion of prevention practices evidence based
- to train family doctors to rise awareness of as many as possible of their own patients of the need to both adopt more correct life styles and correctly implement prevention activities
- to assess – wherever possible – the final impact of delivered training through both health technicians and family doctors, by assessing the real percent of achievement of related health objectives.
